Today’s reports are a little early due to the NWS Pittsburgh SKYWARN Winter training tonight, with everything in I can give my reports now.

Today’s Temperatures

Today’s Maximum Temperature was 59, at 3:59 PM today. The minimum temperature was 48, hit at 7:01 AM. Today’s average temperature was 52 degrees.

Precipitatation

The rain started overnight, resulting in 0,03:” of rainfall in the CoCoRaHS gauge at 7:00 AM. Today by five o’clock in Pittsburgh at the NWS Forecasting Office, 23 hundredths of rain fell there, this is nowhere of the record rainfall of 1.33 inches that fell during the winter of 1977. For my records, this brings the CoCoRaHS total to 16 hundredths of a inch, with an amount to be expected tomorrow. So far in Pittsburgh, this is the only amount received this month.

Snowfall

With today’s high temperatures, no snowfall occurred today, keeping my monthly total at trace, the same stands true for the Pittsburgh Forecasting Office, This record also stands for the winter season. The record snowfall for today was 5.2 inches in 2003.

Today Rain, Light Rain and Fog was all observed here, especially in the morning and evening hours.

River Forecast

Forecast precipitation for the next 48 hours…
Basin average rainfall and/or liquid equivalent of snow is forecast to range from 0.25 to 0.75 inches across Western Pennsylvania and Northern West Virginia. Across Eastern Ohio, basin average rainfall and/or liquid equivalent of snow is forecast to range from 0.10 to 0.25 inches.

Today, at the Youghiogheny River in Connellsville, river stage was 2.72 inches, bringing a deficit of -0.04 from yesterday. Tomorrow’s Forecast is for 4″ with today’s rainfall.

Fire Foreast

Tomorrow’s Fire Weather Forecast is good with a Haines Index of 4 in the daytime and 3 in the night time. Rain will taper off with the departure of the cold front. The rest of the work week is expected to be dry, though temperatures will be below average.

Air Quality Index

The forecaster for Wednesday in Pittsburgh is code level GREEN, which is good, and means little or no health risk. The primary pollutant will be particles.

The normal maximum temperature is 42 and the record maximum was 70, set in 1998. The normal minimum temperature is 28, with the record being 7 degrees, set in 2007.
